Speakers – A health professional from the Coalition can talk to your group about “Experiencing A Colonoscopy” from her personal perspective. The talk will cover the procedure, what it involves, the prep, etc., in hopes of alleviating fear of the procedure (one of the barriers to screening).
Survivor story – A citizen offers to become a ‘champion’ for screenings.
Lucas County Colorectal Cancer Coalition educates the community by way of:
- Billboards
- Bus signs (inside and outside of Tarta buses)
- Bulletin inserts (Blue Star Sunday)
- Health Fairs
- Seminars for health care professionals, employer groups, health plans, public, parrish nursing
- Partner with employers and health plans to raise awareness of screening
- PSAs on local cable channels

- Partner with channel 13 ABC for 3 years with education, survivor testimonies, celebrity PSAs and phone bank with over 1500 calls taken for colorectal cancer screening. Watch Video

- Lobbying to pass legislature to require health plans to pay for colonoscopy screenings
- Partnered with Pharmacy Counter to raise awareness with toilet paper campaign
